Just Collecting Scattered Thoughts…

Firstly a big “HIYA” to my new readers and subscribers. I’m really glad you have found me and I hope you enjoy reading my blog.

I’ve been meaning to post every day this week but something either cropped up or by the time I sat down in peace I couldn’t think of anything worthwhile to say. I’ll admit to feeling a little preoccupied, we are looking into a new therapy for our small person and it’s taken up a lot of head-space this past week. The good news is the sessions have been booked, time off work been cleared and kind relatives more than happy to accommodate us for a few days so now we just wait until January…it seems like an age away. If this works for us we’ll be making regular trips to London for blocks of sessions so some fundraising might be on the cards early next year.

So, what else has been going on? Bits and pieces, mostly things I can’t bring to mind. I am planning a babywearing bag this weekend, and possibly a matching mei tai after trawling TheBabywearer.com DIY section. I’ve also found some suitable jam thermometers so will be having a bash at a bit of soap making as soon as they arrive.

I think thats it for me today, sorry folks, I’m just not feeling it right now. I’ll be back soon though xx

Hello September!

Summer has finally drawn to a close, and September, my favourite month, is here. I love early Autumn, with luck the days are still warm and sunny, but there is a feeling of lateness as the leaves start to turn and the evening light takes on a different quality. I feel as if I’m growing, change is in the air and I’m looking forward to it!

We have been playing with copper and although its rough, our first experiment  is also very lovely. My lovely other half will drill a hole in this little beauty so I can put it on a keyring to inspire me when I’m out and about…and then I’m going to get cracking with my jewellery making…this little bird design will make a fab necklace!

Copper Coin

And just because he is is gorgeous, the copper equine in my life…

Copper Clopper

I’m also very much looking forward to a new sewing machine very soon! My old one is temperamental and permanently grubby from repairing pony rugs so I’ve never used it for anything else. I’ve got lots of ideas for things I want to make, including making a babywearing bag from a Didymos Ginkgo scarf/doll wrap to match the beautiful Ginkgo wrap that will be chopped and converted at some point. And I also have plans to make a few mei tai slings in my pursuit for the ultimate carrier for my growing bundle of fun! Watch this space…

Busy Being Busy

Well, its been a couple of weeks since I last blogged, and I’ve been quite busy. I’ve got a few crafty type things on the go or on the list so generally I’m busy, busy! On the plus side it means that I’m able to ‘do something’ in a day instead of sometimes feeling stressed by always being the Attachhed Parent…maybe the scales are finally starting to tip into balance…?

We have received our beautiful Didymos Ginkgo wrap after finally paying it up. Wrapping is a bit of an art, its all about getting the tensioning right and we really need to practise. As ever, doing anything with a small person who has extra needs is not straightforward. She likes to have her arms out but needs a lot of support around her back so many carries aren’t quite right. But we’ll get there. We also have a Melkaj mei tai on the way as our Ellaroo is outgrown, apparently its gorgeous and I can’t wait to see it. I love mei tai’s and there are some amazing wrap conversions out there, I think the wrap style straps which spread open are just brilliant and combine the best of both the wrap and mei tai features and I imagine they are especially supportive.

So, aside from crafting and carriers, ponies seem to be featuring more and more in our day and we are enjoying the increased contact. There is a lot of work to do with them for the future, but instead of feeling overwhelmed, I’m really looking forward to it all. I’m starting to feel more like me!
