“She”

Firstly I want to share a photo with you from yesterday;

Today we had a visit from our physio and the Jenx rep to try my small person with a walking frame. It went better than I could have hoped and we now have to wait and see if we can get funding for the frame. Please cross your fingers for us, our little girl really needs this and we desperately want this for her.

The weather has turned lovely here, we’re trying to get more outside time now the days are getting shorter. I’ve enjoyed taking the small one out in a sling. We chat, we sing, we scrunch leaves and tickle eachother’s faces with long seeded grass. She is understanding more and more, she is opinionated, she is confident, she is humorous and even her own version of helpful. Today she has a cold brewing but is still chirpy and smiley, fingers crossed she is still happy tomorrow as we have slingmeet! Poor thing spent all night fidgeting and growling, it was like co-sleeping with a bear.

I’ve not been able to get any sewing done these past few days but I have ordered a bit of cord from eBay so looking forward to that coming through the post soon.

Just a short blog post today, there is plenty to come so stay tuned!!!!

Good Times

Wow, lots of views these past few days! There’s been lots of interest in my ‘Extra Needs & Babywearing’ piece so I plan on blogging some more on this subject in the near future.

My beautiful Rockpool lampwork pendant arrived, so pleased with it, my photo just doesn’t do it justice. Now just need to find the perfect chain! The only problem is my little person is fascinated with it, I just need to figure out how to keep it out of her hands…and her mouth!!

I have also finished my appliqué cushion, it is far from perfect but was great fun to do and I can’t wait to do more.

The small one is also having a busy couple of days, we went to hydro yesterday and we have physio today. She LOVES going in the pool and splashing around. I, however, found it exhausting trying to juggle a small toddler, getting us both dry and dressed without being able to put her down or sit her up! But it’s so worthwhile to see her smiling and laughing…she makes my heart melt every day. I am so incredibly lucky.

Older, But No Wiser

So I’m back after a busy few days! Thirty came and went and there was cake ~ chocolate of course. I have discovered the joys of Bondaweb and managed my first bit of machine appliqué. Its not great, but its a start lol. On Sunday we visited the National Woolen Museum in Drefach Felindre and saw pictures of babies being worn in traditional Welsh shawls. My small person enjoyed looking around from the comfort of our Ginkgo. I had a low day on Sunday but we all went for a short walk down the lane and by the time we got back in I was feeling much more uplifted. Its great how a bit of fresh air and some exercise can improve the mood!

I’ve decided to look into Art Journalling, I’m waiting for a book through the post to see what its all about then I might give it a go.

So there we are, a quick catch up. I’ll be back in the next couple of days to post something that makes a bit more sense. I also want to say “Hi!” to the lovely readers who I hear are dipping into this blog…its great to know you are reading and enjoying xx

A couple of pictures just to brighten up a dull text…

Autumn Walk

Sweet Tweet

So the fabric is here and its gorgeous! Its Michael Miller ‘Birds of Norway’ in pincord, 2 delicious metres of it! I have a few ideas buzzing around my head, but all is on hold until the weekend at least. Anyway, here’s a sneak-peek close up for your perusal. Enjoy!

Small-talk

Wow! Feeling tired lately…not sure if its the changing season or keeping up with the busy small person. The wind was blowing a gale last night, it still is. I didn’t sleep all that well, might have been something to do with the mini spider related freak out at bed-time coupled with the fidgety co-sleeping toddler. And I keep dreaming of cord! Brown cord with birds on. Just need to figure out what I’m supposed to do with the cord before I invest in it at £9.50 per 1/2m!

I think I’m getting the hang of my sewing machine, just waiting on some Bondaweb from eBay so I can crack on with the appliqué. I’m ridiculously excited, trying to run before I can walk and discovering that a ‘helpful’ toddler on my lap is not the best way to practise my technique!

I’m also waiting on a gorgeous handmade lampwork Rockpool pendant from Lush Lampwork, my treat to myself for my upcoming birthday. I think I might have a look for a new silver chain too as my snake chain has kinks in from being tugged by small hands. I LOVE Julie’s beads, last month I got a set of her pretty Rolling Stones big hole beads in the purple colour-way and they lovely. Thankfully she has a facebook page which in my opinion is the best way to keep up with stuff I like without having to constantly check websites!

Anyway, must go, my favourite little person is blinking sleepily at me as she wakes from her lap nap….and I *think* I have a plan for the cord!!

Sew Happy

Sew (!) I finally have a sparkly new sewing machine..but as yet I’ve not had an opportunity to try it out. I can hear it calling me, quietly taunting me from the next room…. Still, I’m brimming with inspiration, I know what I want to make and I have my appliqué shape cut out of paper, ready to be pinned and cut from fabric so it’s a start at least! Maybe I’ll get an chance to get on with it tonight, small person permitting of course.

I’m turning 30 next week and I’m looking forward to it. A month ago I was hyperventilating at the thought of entering my fourth decade but this past week I’ve gotten over it. Everything else aside, you can’t halt time. I used to feel like time went around in circles, ‘oh, it’s Monday again’, or ‘wow, just X months til Christmas’, but really, time just stretches ahead in a line. Mostly a curvy line, sometimes days drag and I don’t count the time I’m asleep, and the good stuff tends to rush by at lightening speed. Its all good though, I’ve changed so much these past few years, my confidence has improved as has my ability to deal with the stuff that’s not going how I’d like. Everything I want to do seems possible with a little thought and a bit (or lot!) of work. Like this sewing machine. I will get the hang of it, I’ve spent the last 15 years being to scared to use one, but do you know what? There’s a lot more scarier stuff out there!

Hello September!

Summer has finally drawn to a close, and September, my favourite month, is here. I love early Autumn, with luck the days are still warm and sunny, but there is a feeling of lateness as the leaves start to turn and the evening light takes on a different quality. I feel as if I’m growing, change is in the air and I’m looking forward to it!

We have been playing with copper and although its rough, our first experiment  is also very lovely. My lovely other half will drill a hole in this little beauty so I can put it on a keyring to inspire me when I’m out and about…and then I’m going to get cracking with my jewellery making…this little bird design will make a fab necklace!

Copper Coin

And just because he is is gorgeous, the copper equine in my life…

Copper Clopper

I’m also very much looking forward to a new sewing machine very soon! My old one is temperamental and permanently grubby from repairing pony rugs so I’ve never used it for anything else. I’ve got lots of ideas for things I want to make, including making a babywearing bag from a Didymos Ginkgo scarf/doll wrap to match the beautiful Ginkgo wrap that will be chopped and converted at some point. And I also have plans to make a few mei tai slings in my pursuit for the ultimate carrier for my growing bundle of fun! Watch this space…
